Jim lived in the same 5-mile radius his entire life except when he was a line cook in the US Army stationed at Ft. Lewis-McChord in Washington State. He and his family are life-long members of St. Catherine’s of Alexandria church and parish in Milwaukee. Jim grew up on the family farm which is now located in Servite Woods. The original silo still stands today. He married, Susie Guidinger in June 1966. They shared a love and partnership for farming, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and family. They were proprietors of Batzler Farms, The Trackside Inn and Batzler’s Garden Center which still exists today.

    He is survived by his sons Michael (Julie) and Patrick (Bridget), grandsons Michael Jr., Matthew, Henry and Jack, sister-in-law Sally Schroeder, niece Michelle (Andy) Engeldinger, Heather (Matt) Gooding and nephews Brian (Gemini) Schroeder, Kevin Guidinger, and Todd Batzler. Preceded in death by his wife Susie (nee Guidinger), parents Tony and Mary, brothers George, Thomas (Diane), sisters-in-law Patricia Guidinger (Jerry Gruber) and Mary Schneider (Welcome). Also survived by other relatives and friends.

    Visitation Tuesday, May 23, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 8661 N. 76th Place, Milwaukee, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon, WI.

    In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Catherine of Alexandria Church would be appreciated.1
